How does it work?

Beta-Alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is used for improving athletic performance, especially during high-intensity exercise and strength training.1 Some studies have shown that it may also improve physical performance in older adults and delay muscle fatigue.2 This is due to beta-alanine increasing the synthesis of carnosine, an intramuscular dipeptide which is a strong intracellular buffer helping to reduce acidity in the muscles.3 An optimal pH level is needed for muscles to remain strong and maintain powerful contractions, therefore beta-alanine supplementation increases carnosine levels which help to reduce muscle fatigue.4

What results can be expected?

Beta-alanine may help to improve high-intensity exercise and strength training as well as reduce muscle fatigue through increasing intramuscular levels of carnosine, enabling an optimal pH range that allows longer duration of exercise and training.5
