Barley Grass (Hordeum vulgare)

How does it work?

Barley grass is the first stage of green growth of the barley seed.1 It is known for its high concentration of alkaline nutrients such as vitamin C, chlorophyll, polyphenols and amino acids which decrease with age hence using the first stages of growth obtains the most nutrition for human consumption.2 Barley grass also contains high amounts of the potent antioxidant, superoxide dismutase, which has shown to be protective against radiation, free radical damage and cancer.3

What results can be expected?

Some studies have shown barley grass used as an adjunct treatment may assist in reducing inflammation and cholesterol therefore helping to treat conditions such as arthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis and hyperlipidaemia.4
